For the source questions, you need to use your knowledge and understanding of the period to interpret and evaluate the sources and reach conclusions. It is a skills paper – not an exam testing your knowledge. Therefore you need to ensure you’ve practiced all the different types of questions to ensure success. Generally try to include: Examiners always complain about the first sentence. Make sure you answer the question in that first sentence so they know what you’re going to argue. You might get asked a source question on a picture. Try to mention each of these things in your answer: You will be asked to: - infer from a source (read between the lines) - consider a source’s reliability (do you trust the source?) - consider how useful a source is (what does/doesn’t it tell you?) - compare sources - explain why a source was published - use a source to prove a point - explain if you are surprised by what a source says based on what you know
